Anonymous Hope

Together, we can create hope!

Anonymous Hope is a non-profit organization that was established by young Koreans in response to the anti-immigration protests surrounding the arrival of Yemeni refugees seeking asylum in 2018. These events exposed the larger debates about Korean immigration policy, the value of refugees to Korean society, and evolving ideas of what it means to be Korean today. By supporting the educational, political, economic, and logistical needs of refugees from the Middle East in South Korea, Anonymous Hope works with Yemini, Egyptian, and Afghan partner organizations to not only provide direct assistance to our friends in need, but also advocate for a more inclusive vision of Korean citizenship and society today.

Who are the members?

The members that constitute our organization are largely Korean citizens from broad backgrounds and students at Blair Academy. The commonality, however, is that we are young, eager, and interested in prompting a larger conversation about identity, race, and the politics of migration in our country, South Korea.

Where are we located?

Chartered in Seoul and working closely with local non-profits such as Green Umbrella, Anonymous Hope holds collaborative events in Seoul and online to raise funds for and awareness of the growing communities of Middle Eastern descent in Korea.

What do we do?

From creating merchandise such as shirts, eco-bags, and mask-straps, which have raised over $20,000 for educational and medical needs to having 20 active members teach young Middle Eastern refugees important language skills, Anonymous Hope works to empower refugees while creating direct bridges with local communities.

We work to support the dreams and goals of refugees seeking educational and economic opportunities, cultural understanding, and political recognition in Korea. Our mission is to advocate for greater inclusion in the debates surrounding citizenship, access, and immigration policy in Korea today.
